countybudgetThe Citrus County Administrator’s proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2010-2011 that begins on Oct. 1 is now available online.

To see the proposed budget, look on the left side of the page for "Budget." The proposed budget is also available at the Lecanto Government Building administration office and in the commission's office on the second floor of the county courthouse in Inverness.

Administrator Brad Thorpe submitted his budget to the commission on July 16, and the commissioners will now begin their deliberations on it in a series of public budget meetings. The proposed $214 million budget reflects no change in the current millage rate of 6.4967. It embodies an 11.2 percent decrease from last year’s budget due to falling tax revenues, most notably a second consecutive year of decreasing property values.

The commission will meet on Wednesday, July 28, at 9 a.m. in the courthouse in Inverness in its first Preliminary Budget Hearing to set tentative millage rates and finalization of revenue estimates.

The $543,800 project to reconstruct the causeway and rehabilitate the slope on its sides is the last of the federal stimulus projects in the county.
